Extract PDF pages without losing the intended order
Identify PDF positions
Use the position of a page in the PDF, starting at 1. Printed labels such as i, ii or chapter page 1 can differ from these positions. Include a cover page in your count when determining where the desired section starts.
Write the selection
Separate individual positions and ascending ranges with commas. In an 8-page source, 1, 3-5, 8 selects positions 1, 3, 4, 5 and 8. A range expands in ascending order. Every requested page must exist in the document.
Understand repeated entries
The tool keeps the first appearance of a position and omits later repetitions. In a 6-page source, 5, 1-3, 3 produces four pages in the order 5, 1, 2, 3. It does not sort the entire selection, and it does not duplicate the final page 3.
Check the output
Open the downloaded PDF and inspect its total count and first page. Read the selected content to ensure that a cover or printed page label did not shift your intended selection. Keep the source file separately so that you can make a corrected extraction without relying on the reduced copy.
Respect the purpose
Use one readable, unencrypted PDF within the 40 MB and 500-page limits. Extraction creates a new page assembly. It is not a redaction, digital-signature preservation or secure metadata-removal service. If those properties matter, use a workflow designed for them and verify its actual result.
Try and verify the workflow
Entering 1, 3-5, 8 creates a file containing those pages in that order. Page numbers start at 1, not 0.
