DOCUMENT REVIEW
Page extraction is different from redaction
Understand why keeping selected pages does not remove sensitive information inside those pages.
RSPageSelect can leave unwanted pages out of a new PDF. That is different from removing a name, address or hidden item inside a page you keep. Before sharing an excerpt, inspect the entire selected content and use a suitable redaction workflow when information within a retained page must be removed.
Define what should be excluded
There are two different requests: omit complete pages, or remove information from within a retained page. The tool addresses the first by copying chosen positions into a new document. It has no control for selecting text, finding private fields or applying redaction marks. If a retained page includes information you should not distribute, selecting fewer surrounding pages does not solve that problem.
Inspect every retained page
Open the extracted PDF and look at headers, footers, tables, small notes and attachments or interactive content exposed by the viewer. Do not stop after checking the first page or the total count. The excerpt may contain visible personal information on a page selected for an unrelated chart. The page-selection operation does not decide which parts of that chart page are appropriate for the intended audience.
Use a purpose-built step for in-page removal
When material inside a page needs removal, use an editor designed for the required redaction task and verify its saved output. Placing a visual rectangle over text is not the same claim as securely removing the underlying information. RSPageSelect is not such an editor. Keep the source intact and treat the reviewed derivative as a separate file whose sharing suitability still needs to be checked.
Avoid claiming that the excerpt is sanitized
Describe the result as selected pages unless an appropriate removal process has also been completed and verified. Review the output in the viewer the recipient will use and keep a record of which source positions were retained. The tool copies page content into a new PDF; it does not promise removal of all metadata, annotations or private content that might be present in that copied material.
Put the example to work
Open the tool, enter your own inputs and review the result. The writing a page range that does what you expect guide explains the workflow and its limits.
